Buddhahood cannot be attained elsewhere. If you seek it outside yourself, even the efforts of countless eons will fail to bear any fruit. Search not, strive not. Let your mind rest in its natural state. —Machig Labdron
Mistakes are a natural part of growing up, and there is no need to brood over them. Even though we have a certain margin for error, the sooner we can learn from our mistakes, the less suffering we will have to undergo in life. - Eknath Easwaran
It’s important to realize that the human body is made to move,
and it will keep moving to the degree that we use it. Many people fail to recognize that your 60-, 70-, 80- etc.- year-old future self is relying on you today. - Bill Thomas, MD Project to end ageism In 1990, Yoga Master BKS Iyengar visited the San Diego Zoo with a group of yogis. There he pointed out a beautiful pink Flamingo. The magnificent creature was standing on one foot and was asleep. Mr. Iyengar asked the yogis "Could you do that - balance on one foot and fall asleep?"They answered 'no' but his point was this: “When there is balance in the body, then the mind becomes calm, serene, peaceful.” “Balance is our sixth sense and the key to remaining independent.” - That statement is made by Dr. Margaret Fitzpatrick, a physical therapist who adds this: “It is my firm belief that anyone over age 65 should have an annual balance screen. Balance is our sixth sense and, I would argue, one of our most important senses. Balance is the key to our independence. Seniors must be educated about their balance system and how to keep it running at maximal capacity. Our balance system is plastic, meaning it can change and improve if worked on.” Without the good heart, it is not possible to get enlightened. - Lama Zopa
It is good for us to remember that the guru, the spiritual teacher is in every one of us. The outer teacher makes us aware of the teacher within. - Eknath Easwaran
'MAKE AMERICAN GREAT' - HERE'S WHAT MAKES AMERICA GREAT . . . ACCORDING TO A BUDDHIST MASTER10/3/2019
"America is a country open to immigrants. In addition to its original settlers, American people now represent cultures from all over the world: there are Jewish, Mexican, Spanish, French, Germany, Russian and Chinese people. There are also other Asians including Japenese, Korean, Malaysian, and many more. Regardless of the number of races and cultures, they all mix together in the big American melting pot. Any individual with the intent of stirring up racial conflict is subject to prosecution under the law. American is truly a great country for is acceptance." - Master Hsing Yun from his book Let Go and Move On: Between Ignorance and Enlightenment

Do not shrink from the battle of life, but fight it and come out victorious. Face abuse, insult, dishonor, disgrace, malice with a smile on your face. Be calm and serene. Take up all events in life as though you are a silent witness, never being perturbed at all. - Swami Sivananda ![]() (public domain image from www.pixabay.com) An alternative to sitting for silent meditation is to gaze at an object. Usually, the object is something "spiritual" such as a candle, or image of an inspiring person, or a sacred text. However, gazing at something more ordinary can also slow down and shut down the endless chatter of the mind. Consider apple meditation . . .
It is very difficult for some people to be silent because it is a very strong habit that we have to speak. So today let us make an effort just to be silent with ourselves - Goodwin Samarartne
